INNOVATION PLAN UPDATE
Reflecting on my journey through the ADL program over the past year is truly remarkable. While I entered the program as a proficient teacher, the growth and transformation I've experienced have been profound. I am confident that I will emerge from the program as an even more effective educator, with endless opportunities for further development.
During this update, I reflect on my progress with my innovation project and my ongoing exploration of implementing CSLE+COVA in my classroom. As I prepare to implement my blended learning innovation project, I am reminded that transformation often comes with challenges. However, I am confident in my mindset, knowledge, and skills to overcome obstacles and establish a classroom where students can take ownership of their learning.
When I began the ADL program, I was tasked with crafting an implementation plan for my innovation initiative. So, I strategized to roll out my innovation plan during the concluding stages of the program. My rationale? To ensure that most components of my innovation plan were in place before diving into implementation. As I delved into my last set of courses, I plan to kick off the initial phase of the implementation plan.

I've held discussions with key figures in my school - the principal and the director of instruction - regarding the potential adoption of my innovation plan for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. I firmly believe that integrating a blended learning approach will enhance student ownership of their learning and engagement. Following the conclusion of the ADL program on August 4th, 2024, I will proceed with the subsequent phases of the implementation plan.
When I first encountered the idea of a blended learning environment utilizing the rotational model, I came to understand the crucial role of every step in creating a successful innovation plan. Whether it's crafting an innovation proposal, conducting a thorough literature review, devising an influencer strategy, or outlining a 4DX strategy plan, each element carries equal weight. It's essential to treat all these components with the same level of importance to ensure a positive and meaningful implementation of the new change.
What Worked, What Could I do Better, and What Would I Have Done Differently?
Reflecting on my innovation project, I found several strategies to be effective in its execution. First and foremost, thorough planning and engagement with stakeholders were pivotal. This approach ensured that our objectives were aligned with the school's vision, fostering transparency and support from all involved parties. Additionally, investing in professional development for teachers proved to be invaluable. It bolstered their confidence and competence in integrating blended learning methodologies into their teaching practices, ultimately enhancing the learning experience for students.
Moving forward from the implementation phase, my focus will be on sustaining and refining my efforts. Strengthening support structures for teachers, especially in areas like technology integration and ongoing professional development, will be paramount to maintaining the momentum of our initiative. I plan to foster a culture of collaboration and innovation among stakeholders, encouraging the sharing of best practices and lessons learned to further enhance our outcomes. Additionally, implementing a robust system for gathering and analyzing feedback from all stakeholders throughout the project will provide valuable insights into their evolving needs and expectations.
What lessons have you learned?
Promoting and Communicating
In my journey through the ADL program and crafting my innovation plan, lessons that have stood out: collaborative learning and reflection. Reflection has emerged as a powerful tool for processing information and connecting it with prior knowledge. I've enjoyed using reflection blogging so much that I've integrated it into my classroom practices, with students creating ePortfolios to reflect on their learning experiences. Additionally, I've realized the importance of collaborative learning. While I used to prefer working alone to maintain control, participating in collaborative groups has shifted my perspective. By embracing diverse viewpoints, I've learned the significance of communication and collaboration in fostering a more effective learning environment. These lessons have not only influenced my approach to teaching but have also enhanced my own personal growth and development throughout this journey.
I believe my thoroughness of my literature reviews from my 5305 and 5315 courses, along with the strong level of support garnered made it possible for curriculum instructor and other stakeholders approve my plan. When it comes time to introduce my innovation plan to the students, following the outlined implementation strategy, I'll ensure they understand that a space for face to face as well as technological learning will be available to them to take ownership of their learning. As I move on with the pilot for my innovation plan for the upcoming school year, my goal is to disseminate this information by utilizing various channels, including the school's social media platforms, the school and district websites, as well as send home a news letter to parents.
Next Innovation Project
In my next innovation project, I plan to apply the lessons learned from my current experience. Firstly, I'll prioritize thorough planning and involving stakeholders from the beginning. This ensures everyone is on the same page and invested in the project's success. Secondly, I'll continue to emphasize professional development for educators, recognizing its importance in helping them effectively implement new approaches. Building on the collaborative culture fostered in my current project, I'll seek even more input from stakeholders, valuing diverse perspectives to drive innovation. Additionally, I'll focus on continuous monitoring and evaluation, using feedback to refine strategies as needed. By integrating these principles, I aim to not only achieve project objectives but also foster a culture of ongoing improvement and innovation in education. Ultimately, these steps will ensure that my next innovation project is well-planned, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all stakeholders involved.
