EDLD 5318- Instructional Design

Throughout my graduate school journey, I've dedicated myself to researching, writing, and crafting projects centered around blended learning. Now, I've been given the exciting opportunity to develop a blended learning course for my own classroom. Understanding the importance of clarity and navigability, especially considering students will be working at their own pace, felt like a daunting task. This course is essential to my innovation plan . The design process commenced with the utilization of Fink's 3 Column table,  delineating learning goals, activities, and assessments. This document served as a guiding beacon throughout planning and implementation, ensuring every lesson and activity remained aligned with established learning objectives. Subsequently, I crafted modules encompassing all requisite resources and instructions. Finally, I devised a usability test for select stakeholders, seeking critical feedback on the course design. This feedback proved invaluable, enabling significant improvements to the course before its rollout to all students. Below are my instructional design and implementation approach and the usability test results for the Drafting and Design Blended Learning course.

Before conducting usability testing, I did make improvement based on the feedback I received from my instructional design assignment and Discussion from my peers.  Feedback suggested adding another module to my course because the duration should be at least 5 weeks and originally I only had 3 weeks of modules . Additionally, classmates recommended incorporating a lounge for quick questions and responses between me the teacher and students because this would better help students who may have generally the same questions. This experience underscored the importance of sharing ideas and welcoming constructive criticism at various stages, from design to implementation to usability testing. For my Usability test I had 3 students from 3 different classes . I chose these particular students because all 3 are very different learners . As far other participants I included a 6th , 7th and 8th grade ELAR teachers.

Usability Test

I crafted a feedback survey using Microsoft Forms for students and co workers to assess the course. Analyzing the survey responses revealed two areas requiring adjustments. The initial concern arose from students encountering difficulties accessing the videos and activities in the course. To remedy this, I insured that the videos were unlocked an enabled for grading which opened up access for students to view.
